The shark horror film series 47 Meters Down is back with a new installment. The latest upcoming film is going to be an enterprising project in the horror franchise.
Johannes Roberts, a series creator, and Ernest Riera, a screenwriter who worked on the first two films, are co-writing the third installment, 47 Meters Down: The Wreck.
The first sequel, released in 2017, also follows the story of two sisters who vacationed in Mexico, and another installment was released in 2019.
The film’s main stars are Mandy Moore, previously known for This Is Us, and Claire Holt, previously known for The Vampire Diaries.
However, the film is directed by Patrick Lussier, who is also known for Dracula 2000, My Bloody Valentine 3D, and Drive Angry.

From Cage to Mayan City: A Look Back at the Sequel of “47 Meters Down”
Let’s look at previous The 47 Meters Down franchises, which are based on unlucky divers who get caught in dire survival situations.
The first sequel, 47 Meters Down, was released in 2017 and made on the lowest budget of approximately $5.3 million.
The film tells the story of two sisters who decide to spend their vacation in Mexico watching a shark get trapped in its diving cage 47 meters below the ocean floor.
The film grossed over $62.6 million from that modest budget. The story and twists scared everyone, kept the audience engaged and became a hit horror film.
A second installment, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, was released in 2019. It had a double budget of over $12M and a more extensive cast and setting.
The story follows a group of divers trapped undersea in the ruins of a sunken Mayan city.
The film grossed over $47.6 million, which is less than exceptional, but it doesn’t have as many ups and downs as the first film.
Production has officially begun on the third installment of 47 Meters Down: The Wreck.
