What is the real story of Lisa McVey?
Innocent 17-year-old Lisa McVay was no stranger to hard times, as in early November 1984, a teenage girl formed a plan to end her life.
Just hours after writing the suicide note, she was kidnapped by a local serial killer named Bobby Jo Long, who had previously murdered eight women.
The main reason for Lisa McVay’s suicide is that she was sexually abused by her grandmother’s boyfriend.
Lisa McVey Noland was born in March 1967. She is now an American police officer, school resource officer, and motivational speaker from Tampa, Florida.
After a brutal 26-hour kidnapping in Long’s apartment, McVay decides to solve her life’s problem by living to see another day.
After escaping a serial killer, she struggles to get the adults around her to believe her story.
It has since been the subject of several media pieces, including the 2018 Lifetime film “Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey.”
Even before being kidnapped, McVey was young and had struggled a lot. If we talk about childhood, McVey spent much time living on the streets with her mother.
In a 2020 interview, Lisa McVey explained, “My teenage years were unbearable.”
She further said, “I did not have a good childhood. I was always down, depressed, sad.”
At 14, she was taken to her grandmother’s house, where she lived with her grandmother and her boyfriend in the Tampa Bay area.
Her life was not so difficult until she was on the streets, but after she got home, her life in her grandmother’s house became even more difficult.
McVey said, “One day, my grandmother came to me and said her boyfriend was interested in me, and he was going to teach me how to please a man.”
She added, “I was 14 years old. I did not know and understand what she was talking about.”
