Vertical Entertainment has just dropped the trailer for its upcoming movie Refuge, which is directed by Renny Harlin. Harlin also produced “The Legend of Hercules” and “Devil’s Pass.”
“Hideous” writer Ben Sztajnkrycer wrote the screenplay. Sophie Simnett and Raza Jaffrey are in the leading roles, respectively, as are Kate and Ibrahim.
The trailer shows Sergeant Rick Pedroni, an army soldier, who goes home to meet his wife.
As you watch the trailer below, When he is on duty, he is attacked by a mysterious force during combat in Afghanistan, but after coming home, he gets X-ray reports, and he is found mentally disturbed.
After which, he becomes psychotic and kills people senselessly.
A Disturbing Transformation
The trailer shows extreme violence, bombings, and burning of people, which makes it seem that it is not right for the sake of survival.
Hence, it is necessary to think before showing it to the children.
The trailer opens by saying, “Over here, they in the tunnels hold your fire. Says there’s no way any of them.”

Kate says, “The doctors in Afghanistan stabilized him. We don’t have the details of the combat.”

Story Synopsis and Cast

Renny Harlin, Yariv Lerner, Gary Lucchesi, Michael McKay, and Robert Van Norden produce the film, with Lonnie Ramati as co-executive producer and Valentin Dimitrov as head of production.
Along with Sophie Simnet and Raza Jaffrey, the cast also includes Jason Flemyng, Johanna Harlin, Shervin Alenabi, Atanas Srebrev, Max Kraus, Velizar Binev, Euan Macnaughton, and Kal Minev.

Release Details
The Refuge film was already released in Lithuania on November 24, 2024, and in Estonia on December 8, 2023. Now, Vertical Ent is ready to release it in the United States on Friday, April 19, 2024.
On the same day, 12 other movies are coming out, including Melissa Barrera’s Abigail, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and Villains Inc.
Harlin on the Horror Genre
In a 2021 interview, Harlan told THR that he “loves making horror films because of the visual opportunities and character studies they offer,”
The director added, “The Refuge is a terrifying journey into the deepest corners of the human spirit. It’s not just a regular horror film about a haunted house or a merciless killer.”
“It’s an examination of what can happen when an evil, demonic spirit possesses an innocent mind.”
